DP1 Students: IA Engagements!
This presentation scored a full 10/10.
Note that there are no fancy images, slides, etc., but there IS a lot of really good, focused analysis.
The presentation covers a group of people who are threatened with Genocide as a result of who they are (Global Challenge: Identity.) The student has excellent analysis of identity as a concept, and many excellent links to key concepts from the Human Rights unit.
This presentation also scored a full 10/10 points.
This student does have a bit of an accent, and some might find it difficult to understand (he's Scottish, and technically speaking English) BUT he still scored well. You SHOULD try to speak clearly, and that's something we'll be working on in our practice sessions.
This student also used the global challenge of identity, but he used it in a different way; he linked identity to the idea of nationalism and a push for a fully independent, sovereign Scotland (breaking away from the U.K.)
These first two samples show that while many presentations may use the same theme, the way that they connect to the rest of the Global Politics course can vary a great deal!
One KEY thing to note: this fella uses his notes WAYYYY too much. Recent feedback of the HL presentations has recently emphasized how notes should NOT be relied upon, but rather just as prompts (or for quotes, etc.)
The third sample can be found on IB's Global Politics site (since it belongs to them, I cannot upload it here.) This comes from a student who did... not do a very good job. You will be able to notice a clear difference in preparedness, polish, and the overall quality of the presentation.
More samples will be added over time (for now, these three are enough.)
