Description of Conditions

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School physical needs generally relate to updates to aging systems. Removal and replacement of asbestos flooring is needed in much of this facility. Replacemeent of ceilings, and lighting systems are also common throughout the facility.  Upgrades to specialty spaces such as science labs, gym spaces, locker rooms and fine arts are need to replace out of date equipment. These upgrades also expand to spaces like the library, and include the need for new doors and hardware throughout the facility, as well as the replacement of student lockers.

The only functional improvement included in the PNA assessment is at MSJH. This improvment relates to the relocation of the administration area, and the creation of a proper secured entry. This need has been identified as a must have item by the district staff, building staff and the board of eduction if this facility were to remain in service moving forward. Therefore, this work is included here as a base consideration.

This facility has a need for full system replacement related to HVAC, major upgrades to plumbing and domestic water service, as well as system replacement of the electrical service to the facility. Unlike the MSHS or LTE where small pieces of equipment have been upgraded along with recent renovations, there are limited if any existing pieces of equipment that would remain in service at the Junior High.

There are also extensive needs to the building envelope from the roof, to large swaths of exterior windows, and even large areas of exterior wall that have water damage and are in need of extensive repair.
