Lincoln trail elementary physical needs relate to mainly to updates of aging system. Removal and replacement of asbestos flooring is needed in much of this facility. Replacement of ceilings, and lighting systems are also common throughout the facility. Upgrades to specialty spaces like art, the gym, the library, and replacement of lockers throughout the facility are some key needs.
Building system needs related to HVAC are somewhat tempered by recent addition of air conditioning in 2015. However, the boiler system, and plumbing needs a full replacement. Lastly, while the building envelope is in relatively good shape due to some recent and on-going masonry tuck-pointing, including a near re-build of the east stairs, there are several areas of windows that need replacement to eliminate the remaining single pain window systems.
Also located, at the Lincoln trail site, is the transportation, grounds, and bus garage. This facility has been included in the assessment for a full replacement. This is due to a few key reasons. First, the building has a large amount of physical needs relative to the exterior envelope, doors, lighting, and the roof. Second this facility is very undersized for the number of buses that are now used by the district. Lastly, due to its location, not only does that impact the function, and options to expand the transportation building, but it also negatively impacts the current and future functionality of Lincoln Trail Elementary.
