This course is designed for the beginning student of Spanish. Listening and speaking skills receive major emphasis. Reading and writing are also an integral part of this course.

The intermediate course continues to emphasize the progressive development of the language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, the student will continue to develop cultural concepts and understanding through independent research projects.

This course provides further development of the skills of aural comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. New basic language structures, additional vocabulary, idioms of high frequency and practical use are presented and practiced orally. Cultural patterns and customs related to Spain and Latin America continue to be emphasized through extensive reading and discussion.
