MPKEN and Moody's Assist Foreign Job Seekers in Tokyo with a Mentoring Workshop

Tokyo, [June 14, 2023] - MPKEN, a nonprofit organization based in Tokyo, collaborated with Moody's to host an insightful workshop aimed at assisting foreign job seekers in their pursuit of employment within Japan. The workshop, held on June 13, 2023, was part of Moody’s TeamUp®, the company’s annual, global volunteering campaign.

Japan has been actively welcoming skilled workers from overseas. However, due to its unique recruitment culture, even the talented international job seekers encounter difficulties in finding suitable jobs and developing careers in the country.

The workshop proved to be instrumental for the job seekers as they shared their gratitude for the practical advice and insights from Moody’s employees. One student said that despite having learned about job seeking skills in school from their Japanese teachers, the insights gained during the workshop were particularly beneficial in their quest for employment.

The interview practice session was conducted in both Japanese and English, helping the international students grasp a better understanding of the Japanese recruitment process. The workshop, which included interactive sessions, practical exercises, and expert presentations, provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the Japanese job market, cultural nuances, and effective job seeking strategies. The participants seized the opportunity to expand their professional networks, build confidence, and enhance their overall job seeking skills.

"We are thrilled to have partnered with Moody's to host this workshop as part of their Moody’s TeamUp campaign," stated Minh Nhat, Project Coordinator of MPKEN. "Through this event, we aimed to bridge the gap between foreign job seekers and the Japanese job market, equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the recruitment landscape successfully. We are proud to have empowered these talented individuals on their journey to fulfilling their career aspirations in Japan."
