Fee-for-service revenues entail payments received in exchange for services or goods provided by a project or MSC core staff. These services may extend to other non-profit organizations, but if there is an exchange of cash equal to the value of the goods or services provided, it typically constitutes a fee-for-service transaction.
Acknowledgement Letters for Fee-For-Service Revenue:
Tax receipts or acknowledgment letters are not issued or required for payments where the contributor received services of equal value to their contribution.
Entering into a Contract
When pursuing a contract to provide services, create a contract Opportunity in Netsuite. See Creating a Revenue Contract Opportunity in the Netsuite Procedures for more information.
Complete the Revenue Contract Form.
The form allows the submitter to upload their own contract template, or to use MSC’s template.
MSC will review the contract for unrelated business income tax (UBIT) implications.
Once the contract is approved by a member of the finance team, MSC’s Contracts Team will review your contract.
Once the contract is reviewed, the Contracts Team will send the contract to the Project Director, MSC's ED, and the customer for signature.
MSC’s Operations Team will update your contract opportunity, or create on if one does not exist, and attach the final contract.
Please allow at least 7-10 buisness days for MSC to review and execute your contract.
As work is done and the customer is billed, projects must create invoices from the contract opportunity. See Creating an Invoice in the Netsuite Procedures for more information.
Amending a Contract
If you need to amend a revenue/service contract, complete the Revenue Contract Form.
If the amendment involves a change to the scope of work, your Project Accountant will review the amendment for unrelated business income tax (UBIT) implications.
Once the amendment is approved by a member of the finance team or has no change to the scope of work, MSC’s Contracts Team will review your contract.
Once the contract is reviewed, the Contracts Team will send the contract to the Project Director, MSC's ED, and the customer for signature.
