Reading goal #1: My goal is to open up my reading genres. I am going to accomplish my goal at home and at school. I am going to accomplish it by reading 1-2 books from each genre by the end of the school year. The categories I am going to read are science fiction, poetry and fantasy. Accomplishing this goal will help me open up my reading diversity and give me a more diverse reading area. I will accomplish my goal by the end of the school year.
In the evolution of storytelling project the main topic was making personal narrative and the multimedia project.
For this poster we annotated an article. Then used quotes from the article to make a poster about a reason stories matter.

In this unit I learned to voice my own opinion and how our society is not that different from the ancient ones like mesopotamia. One way that I learned to voice my own opinion is by the socratic method, asking questions and listening to understand rather than respond. Ancient societies like mesopotamia were made from a government to organise themselves, just like today they had different types of government. One country can just be one type of government; they are a mix, no government is the same as another one. The exhibition tied things together by learning how our systems of government and the ancient governments by showing that they are not that different and they all had to use ancient civilizations of law. The exhibition went well because we all knew what we were talking about and how it tied back to the rest of the project. I think that I did well with the project and managing all of the homework and work load. Next time I would want to learn about the exhibition earlier so that I could start thinking about connections. The habit of heart and mind that I think I grew in most was respect because when you are using the socratic method you need to learn how to be more respectful than usual. I think I could have used more refinement on notes and handwriting.
In this unit we have done lots of different things like posters, essays and group work. After a little bit of overview of the project we were assigned a certain area of Afro-Eurasia, I got Ancient Arabia.
I made a ziggurat to go along with my essay.

Unit 4 Reflection:
In this unit we have covered a lot of information. Something that I am proud of from this unit was all of my effort on my annotations and my choose board project. I am proud of these things because I put a lot of effort and refinement into them throughout the school year. The part of the unit that I demonstrated the most effort was during the making of the posters because I had to first write all of the information on the ruff draft, then color and sharpie it. Finally, I put all of the information on the final draft that would be displayed at the exhibition. This took a lot of time, effort and thoughtfulness to create. One important takeaway from this unit is how much we rely on each other and are connected. You can see this when you look at the different places where something is made, like a shirt is made in multiple different countries because of the different resources found in different countries. In this unit my group had some problems with getting work done on time or even doing it at all. If I were to do this project again I would try to tell my group members about needing their information in a more specific way so they know exactly what to give me. One thing that I would personally improve in the future are my creative writing skills because I struggled adding descriptive detail and figurative language. During this project we did both individual work and group work. I think that my individual work went very well with my research because I did not have to wait on others to continue. One thing that was challenging when writing the essay was my thesis statement. Something that I learned during the researching process was how interconnected the different parts of the world were and still are today. In the group work part I was the concept map maker, the traveling cartographer and the organiser. I think that I supported my group very well because I got all of my work done on time and did not need extra time because when they did the whole group slowed down. Overall this project went extremely well from the individual research to the group work.
