The Chemical Theater learning target was all about understanding chemical reactions and chemical equations
During the chemical theater project I was able to show effort when working on the poster. As you see it when its passed around, try to see all of the *details*. Me and my group worked really hard to finish this while getting over bumps in the road.
This exhibition finale was quite fun to do :D. We would heat up potassium chlorate in a 45 degree tube which made potassium chloride and oxygen which reacts with a gummy bear that we dropped in. I definietly hit the learning target with this one because I understand how the chemical reaction works.
We made these for the reaction theater exhibition in digital media. It used photoshop and illustrator. It took a lot of refinement to finish these because there was a lot of steps to this. I made a little video for both of the QR codes but we won't look at those right now.
The Waves LT is I can demonstrate my understanding of wave physics by designing and constructing an escape room that incorporates these principles effectively.
This was all about waves, like energy. I got a meets because of got 9 or 8 questions right, which passes the requirements. This hasn't really impacted the learning target yet so I'm still working on that.

I think that my learning in science will help in the future in other classes while in highschool.
Both of the socratic seminars for the Ted Talks surrounded the book Just Mercy that follows the story of a death-row inmate and his lawyer. During the seminars I debated questions about the legal system with my class. It took a lot of effort to do these seminars because of the background research papers that were unnecessarily long.
For the Ted Talk exhibition I used around 4 sources for my source research. During this process, I read the document I was citing multiple times and used ctrl f to find keywords for what my Ted Talk was about. I ended up using a lot more sources for my project because I didn't choose the right ones, but I still got an exceeds on the assignment.
I wrote about vaccines because I was told to find a controversial topic. In my essay I wrote about the reason behind the controversy, what the sides are, and what my opinion was. I used a lot of refinement when working on this because I had like 3 rough drafts before I felt good about it. It was also a solo paper so it took me a while to finish.
I think that my learning will help on future exhibitions in Humanities (ex. the Mock Trial)
On the math test for this unit we had 17 Delta math questions. I initially got a 65, or an approaching, but after corrections I got 93 which is a meets. I struggled with how it was on the computer because of bugs in the questions and laggy internet
This test covered input and output functions, linear and exponential equations, minimum and maximum and many other things relating to functions. I got an exceeds because I got everything correct (except for one thing). I struggled the most with making function equations from word problems but I got the questions correct.
I got 96% on the test initally. After test corrections I got them all correct. For the math 2 final in the spring I want to try and study more and my goal is to get a meets or above. My MMS grade is exceeds.
I think that my learning will help me get into a higher level of math in highschool, like math 2 or 3.
For this project me and Lucia worked together to create a stop motion video. We took the story idea from a 5th grader and made little clay characters that matched the description. When we were actually making the video it was very fun but difficult to control everything.
I can't access it for some reason right now but I will in time for TPOLs
I think that my learning will give me the ability to be good with technology now and in the future.
The goal for respect that I made in the ~beginning of the year was to "show more respect to myself with self talk. I will commit to being kinder to myself when I get something wrong or get a bad grade." I honestly think I'm still struggling with self talk because I often forget that I don't have to do everything myself or perfectly. I don't really know how to add evidence for this, but when I have to do things like reflect on an exhibition I usually end up thinking that I would have been better doing something else or blaming myself if the group didn't do super well. I used to do this a lot in 6th and 7th grade.
The goal for effort that I made was to "take more risks in my learning by taking extensions and branching into unknown areas while also seeing my failures as opportunities for growth." Same with respect- I'm still struggling with seeing my failures as opporunity- BUT I have taken on a lot of extensions and unknowns. An example of this is *yearbook*. Me and Lucia decided to take it upon ourselves to do the yearbook, much to the chagrin of our schedules. It has taken a lot of effort not to give up on the whole thing because of tech issues, lack of time, and lack of pictures.
The goal I made for integrity was to "be more honest and to apply this to both home life and school where I have struggled with dishonesty." I think I've gotten a LOT better about this. Lying is less of a routine now and I am able to be less stressed and more focused on important things. I also have no idea how to get evidence for this goal.. so I'll just say that during 7th grade I was a lying, scheming child and I have (hopefully) moved past that forever. :D
The goal for refinement was to "be more comfortable with asking for help. I usually ask my close friends for help but sometimes I need to be able to ask for help from people I'm not familiar with." Well, nothing has really changed. Even though I know absolutely everyone in 8th grade I always differ back to a few friends for help. I have been able to talk to the teachers more because I feel more heard and not *judged* by them. C: I also think this goal could apply to social anxiety like not being able to talk to vendors or something. An example of refinement-not exactly my goal-is my research essay about vaccines that I previously talked about. It used a lot of refinement because of the amount of drafts and research.
I hope that my educational ranting has given you a sense of indirect success for the future. I will be back here.. in this same position only once more for my last TPOL. See you then.. and thank you for listening.
