Groups of three shiny toothed leaves trailing spreading by runners the flowers are white have five petals and the berries are small and red
The berries are a traditional food often presented to guests. The fresh berries are too juicy to dry like other berries so they made an excellent feast. Strawberries were usually eaten fresh but sometimes used in jam.. The leaves were used to cure stomach pain. Some groups made a sweet tea with the leaves and water sometimes with other berry leaves as well. When blueback salmon swim up the river it was the time for the berry harvest (around June or July).
