Arbutus is a large tree (30 m tall) with dark green, oval leaves, with a leathery underside. On mature trees, the smooth, reddish bark usually peels.(card)
It is a broadleaf evergreen which means that, unlike other evergreens, it doesn't have needles. Its clusters of white flowers produce red berries in the fall.(card)
Bark: can boiled to use as a medical tea to help get rid of colds and stomach problems
Leaves: can be boiled to make sore throats feel better. Can also be put in a smoke fire to be preserved.
Berries: can be dried and strung to make beads.
All parts of the tree can be used but some never were, like the wood for example was never used as it always has had a spiritual meaning.(card)
Arbutus tends to live in a low elevation with many rocks nearby for the roots to latch onto. It also like to live in a drier climate.(berke herbarium )
The Arbutus tree prefers full sunlight or half sunlight for it to grow to its fullest extent. The tree likes to have plenty of pollinating animals like butterflies, bumblebees, and honeybees near it so it can pollinate the white flowers to become orangish red berries.(WNPS)

I used this website for information on the trees, flowers and berries. I also used it for all the images as sadly I could not find any Arbutus trees to take a photo of recently.
