I was thrilled to hear from my Tamil teacher that I had won a prize in the Naanum Oru Padaippaali Writing Competition. During the competition, I was very nervous because I really wanted to win a prize for my school, as I was the only one qualified for the last round. I felt like all the pressure was on me, but I was constantly encouraged by my teacher and peers before the competition so I knew I had to make them and my family proud. Participating in this competition, I learnt how to properly write a good short story, and how to bring forth the point of the story. It also helped me to expand my knowledge on the Tamil vocabulary, and enabled me to move to the next level and use more complicated words. I am happy that I got this opportunity and am looking forward to join more competitions.~Kathiresan Poorva
I felt really happy when I heard that I had won the Translation Competition because I knew I had put in effort and tried my best. During the competition, I felt pressurised to finish making my Translation Video as I knew I wouldn’t have time for editing the video. The Translation Competition also enabled me to expand my knowledge in Tamil as I had to type the subtitles in Tamil for my video. It also helped me to practice my oratory skills as well as speaking loudly and clearly in tamil. I truly enjoyed the experience of being able to translate an english video into a tamil one.
