A COMPLICATION

NOTES ON A COMPLICATION

A complication is a situation or action that makes the original problem worse. It is not a new problem. It is the difficult circumstances that come about through the character’s attempts to find solutions to his / her problem. The complication comes in the climax, just before the problem is solved. It should make the situation appear like it is impossible or very difficult to solve. It can be a small addition to the main problem or a sudden twist. The complication is created to provide sufficient excitement and development to the story.
