Best Practice 11: Reading Aloud
Always pick a (different) student to read the instructions or questions for a given activity aloud. By doing this teachers can:
1. Save themselves the trouble of doing it.
2. Check student pronunciation.
3. Promote comprehension among all students (who may well understand the student’s accent better).
4. Capitalize on the fact that students are more likely to listen to another student than to a teacher.
5. Make sure that all students start at the same time (i.e., at the end of the reading).
