FBLA Role-Play Events are individual or team competitions where participants analyze a given business scenario and present a solution to a panel of judges. These events test problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, communication, and leadership skills in a real-world business setting.
Objective Test (for some events) – Some role-play events include a multiple-choice test to assess foundational business knowledge.
Preparation Time – Competitors receive a business scenario and have 10–20 minutes to prepare a response.
Presentation Time – Participants present their analysis, recommendations, and solutions to judges in 5–7 minutes.
Q&A Session – Judges ask questions to evaluate critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Types of FBLA Role-Play Events
FBLA Role-Play Events are divided into different categories based on the participation format:
1. Individual Role-Play Events (One Competitor Only)
Competitors receive a business scenario and must analyze and present a solution independently.
Focus Areas: Customer service, IT support, leadership, and decision-making.
Skills Assessed: Critical thinking, communication, professionalism, and problem-solving.
2. Team Role-Play Events (Two or Three Competitors Working Together)
Teams work collaboratively to analyze a business case study and present a structured response.
Focus Areas: Business management, finance, marketing, hospitality, and event planning.
Skills Assessed: Teamwork, leadership, strategy development, and presentation skills.
3. Individual or Team Role-Play Events (Competitors Choose to Compete Alone or in a Team)
Competitors can compete independently or in a team of up to three members.
Focus Areas: Business management, finance, marketing, and technology.
Skills Assessed: Business knowledge, teamwork (if applicable), communication, and decision-making.
4. 9th & 10th Grade Only Role-Play Events (For Underclassmen Only, Individual or Team)
Designed to introduce younger competitors to business concepts and teamwork.
Focus Areas: Event planning, budgeting, and marketing.
Skills Assessed: Organizational skills, presentation, and business knowledge.
