Micro-Credentialing

The Microcredentialing Committee, comprised of teachers and administation and all levels within the district, has decided on 11 Micro-Credentials to PILOT this school year, 2021-2022. These are the MCs that faculty will be able to acheive this year:

1-6 - Metacognitive Instructional Strategies (Jigsaw, KWL, 5-3-1, Double Entry Journal, Choiceboards, and The Frayer Model; there is a section of this site devoted to each of those strategies!

7-8 - Success Criteria and Learning Intentions

9 - Learner Dispositions

10 - Effective Feedback

11 - Equity Coalition; there is a section of this site devoted to Restorative Practices and Equity!

The link to the left is an article that entails the creation and use of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria. Learning Intentions are simply what we intend for students to learn. Success Criteria is our way of knowing that learning has happened.

This makes learning VISIBLE for our students, as they reflect on:

-Where am I going in my learning?

-Where am I now in my learning?

-What's next to improve my learning?

Effective Feedback is what will truly improve and change our students' performance.

Feedback is rooted in our relationships with students and has a high effect size for improving students' performance.

Feedback is more powerful than grades.

In order for Visible Learning to Occur, students have to be engaged in the questions to the left. This makes them assessment capable, and at the helm of their learning. This leads to deeper metacognition and more retention and transfer of their learning to other experiences.
