Josh chaired the meeting at 7:05pm with quorum and took attendance via zoom poll . Monica

President’s report
Josh just informed the efforts to promote elections for the new PTA executive board and how we could not hold elections on the April meeting.
Treasurer’s report: Joelle informed there were no new business but provided an overall balance sheet of $2,736.17.
Principal’s Report:
Ms Kaplan informed: Following Ms Chapman suggestion related to PTA election and availability nominees, Ms Kaplan promoted the election to upcoming 9 th grade parents on newsletter and last night in parent’s night. Saturday school to prepare for Regents ahs had a good turn out. There are only two more sessions until May 31st last opportunity for Science/ Bio. June 14 MECA launched a 360 Audit effort to evaluate the culture environment for each of school stakeholders. The school has already held focus groups with students and staff. A parent focus group will be offered via zoom asking for those interested in participating to join next week. In addition, Ms Kaplan informed of the many opportunities provided to families to submit this survey tailored for MECA.
Approval of March and April Meeting minutes Josh went over the March meeting minutes. After following seconded motion, parents voted and approved the March Meeting minutes. Josh went over the April meeting minutes and after a motion, seconded, all parents approved of the April meeting minutes.
Old business-Agenda Item: MECA PTA Election:
Josh informed us that we did not receive any new nominations via email, or thru google form. As of now MS Chapman is the only nomination for the Treasurer position. Josh mentioned the three positions that need to be filled in order for MECA to have a functioned PTA. Parents are welcome to nominate for co-positions or a new positions.|
Josh is asking for nominations for the positions and asked if anyone has any questions about the positions. Josh, Monica and Joelle provided an overview of their roles. They answered the questions from parents interested in learning about the time and the role responsibilities. Ms Chapman then suggested to nominate herself for president if someone could take the Treasurer. Ms Jada Patterson nominated herself for President. Ms Traci Richburg was considering the Treasurer position but requested additional information about the time commitment. Then we received the nomination of Ms Ana Pichardo, as a Treasurer. Ms Traci withdrew her consideration for Treasurer and accepted co-president as suggested by Ms Chapman.
Josh then asked the nominees to confirm that we have nominations for the following positions and made motion to make a vote for each of the nominees to their respective positions. After motion was approved the following votes took place:
Vote for Tamika Chapman and Staci Richburg- Co-presidents: all in favor, no opposition. New Co-presidents elected
Vote for Ana Pichardo- 10th grade Parent- Treasurer- all in favor, no opposition. New treasurer was elected.
Vote for Jada Patterson- 11th grade- Secretary- all in favor, no opposition. New Recording Secretary was elected.
Everyone offered congratulations to the new executive board members. Monica asked that Ms Vivian share the contact information of the newly elected parents to Josh to complete the required forms. They will be invited to the June Executive board meeting to transfer all the duties and records.
