Events
Events
Events are a critical part of communicating college- and career-related information to your community. Some topics you may cover include:
College applications
Financial aid
The college process
Testing
Apprenticeship opportunities
Naviance and Common App
Intercollegiate athletics
HBCUs
Although you will offer events year round, you may find that there are more event opportunities in the summer, as you are targeting a great deal of information toward rising seniors during that time.
Collaboration with other schools, particularly with virtual events, is an excellent way to maximize participating in your events no matter what time of year. Share the details and registration information with other CCICs so they can advertise your events with their communities as well.
EVENT RESOURCES
Here is a list of partners to whom you can reach out to schedule events. All of these companies offer their services for free to offer in-person or virtual events to our families.
Contact other CCICs for specific contact information for these organizations.
You can also reach out to college admissions reps to schedule events; most college admissions reps are happy to lead and support events at no charge.
It's a good practice to record any events you host so they can be made available to attendees for review and to people who are unable to attend. You can also sign up for other people's events and get the recording link emailed to you afterward. You can store your own event links in a YouTube channel, and make a spreadsheet of recording links from all your sources (examples below).
