Career Essentials

All students want to be successful at their first job after graduation. Everything you are learning now will be so important, including how you interact with other people. Paying attention to soft skills, which are core abilities that employers are looking for in new hires, will help you avoid unintentional mistakes at your job.

What are Career Essentials?

As you complete your program at MATC, your instructors will assess you on the following soft-skill competencies. Every program course will include an assessment aligned to one (1) Career Essential competency, facilitated through Blackboard. The results of this assessment will indicate where students are at any point in their progress throughout their time at MATC.

How Will You Be Assessed?

Your instructors can explain how you will complete a Career Essential Assessment, typically through an assignment in Blackboard. It’s an important way to gauge your professional growth. Once you have been assessed, your instructor will make your results available to you in Blackboard.

How Can You Track Your Progress?

When viewing your course’s Goal Performance tool, you will be able to see your core on the Career Essential goal on which you were assessed and drill down deeper to view additional feedback.
