Cognitive Reframing
The goal of reframing is to develop a gentler way of talking to yourself and of thinking about others by recognizing that there are many ways to look at a situation – many different frames to look through – and many possible positive intentions behind a behavior. This exercise will help you gain a new, more positive perspective on just about anything.
Write down your negative thought
Is this thought true? Is it based on facts or on feelings?
Can I view this situation differently?
How can I reword this thought in a more positive light?
It is sometimes beneficial to ask yourself, would I say this thought to my best friend, or to my grandma? That can be a helpful strategy to halt the negative thoughts before they can become destructive.
Reframing anxiety - Anxiety can be a very uncomfortable feeling, but not all stressful situation are negatively coorelated. It is important to reframe situations that cause you anxiety - you would not be feeling these feelings if you did not care. You are feeling anxiety surrounding this situation because it means a lot to you.
