3/4Elm   Learning Update

Central idea: Forces of nature can move our world in different ways.

The past couple of weeks has seen Elm Class studying the rise of electricity, how humans utilise it and the impact it has had on the environment. We have researched how human life has changed since the Stone Age with the progression of technology in communication, transport and entertainment. This has included examining how cars have changed from three-wheeled, roofless vehicles to the electric machines we use today. We have also been examining the impact of the rise of electrical production, with fossil fuels having huge implications on the environment and wildlife.

In writing, we have been examining recounts. We have been practising writing in the first person, in the past tense and using lots of exciting, descriptive vocabulary. Editing has been at the forefront of our work, using purple pen to correct errors, spelling, and upgrading our vocabulary.

In science, we have been studying the different varieties of rocks, such as igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Using physical examples of rocks, we grouped them and examined what they looked like and how they felt.
