Central idea: Natural disasters can impact living things and their environment

This week the children thoroughly enjoyed finishing and publishing their poems about water. They created a fantastic background to present their beautifully written poems on. They were so proud of them and they all used many of the key features: repetition, similes and alliteration.

We also got to be news reporters this week as part of our inquiry. We have watched news footage of the 2019 Christmas floods in Yalding and we imagined the impact it would have on the residents. To begin to understand why floods happen we have studied the water cycle and made posters.

In maths we are recalling our 2, 5 and 10 times tables and learning the corresponding division facts.

In science we have thought about global habitats. We have written about the conditions, animals and plants that live in these very different parts of the world.
