5Cedar   Learning Update

Central idea: Technology constantly evolves to progress human societies

The children have worked to conclude the final inquiry, which is an inquiry into the impact of technological advancement on human societies. They thoroughly enjoyed studying Dubai: researching the variety of buildings; comparing the past and present and predicting what the future of Dubai would look like. As part of the DT project, children worked in groups to design a new Dubai building and pumped water up the building so it could stream down the building. This was influenced by the engineering work to cool the building in Dubai.

In the last couple of weeks, the children have been creating imaginative stories influenced by the core text 'The Wild Robot.' They have tried their best to have a range of sentence structures including fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases and parenthesis. Inspired by 'Storytelling Week' last week, they loved reading out their stories to each other and reflecting on their own work to continually improve it.

In Maths, Cedar class have been working on their fluency in times tables. This has helped them speed up with their calculations especially when finding fractions of amounts.

The children had their final violin lesson which they thoroughly enjoyed and showed great enthusiasm and dedication to learning a new instrument.

Keep up the great work!
