1Spruce    Learning Update

Central idea: The weather can affect how people live.

Spruce class have had an excellent couple of weeks finalising our learning about how the world works. To finish our line of inquiry three, 'an inquiry into how the climate impacts the way people live', we organised a fundraiser for drought relief in Somalia. The children were inspired to do this through the exploration of our core text 'Lila and the Secret of Rain', through which we explored the impact of droughts on people's lives. The children made art work and sold packets of seeds to grow seasonal items at home. We displayed their excellent work about different climate zones. The children loved looking through their inquiry books with their grown-ups and enjoyed reading the comments left in their books.
