5Chestnut  Learning Update

Central idea: People with different beliefs may struggle for rights and freedoms.

Welcome to Year 5!

We have been working hard on our project linked with the UN Sustainable Goals. We focused on Goal 14 - Life Below Water - learning about the impact that we, as humans, are having on seas and oceans. Over the week, we have produced artwork, carried out research, presented information and written a letter to the Prime Minister, urging him to encourage everyone to take action! If you were able to attend the exhibition, then we hope that you would have learnt valuable knowledge and enjoyed the work which we have produced.

In maths we have looked at Roman Numerals and started our unit of work on place value. We have a rhyme - I Value Xylophones Like Cows Do Milk - to remember the letters associated with the Roman Numeral system. Supporting your child at home in understanding place value up to 1,000,000 can really help them in class.
