Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry, innovation & infrastructure.

We began our exciting project by building an entire city to help us understand what infrastructure is and why it is so important.  We enjoyed using our chromebooks to research and write about the city of Tokyo before becoming official city architects (planners!) so that we could then consider how to build a city that is sustainable.  Children shared ideas about sustainable energy, transport, waste, food and nature could be incorporated into their city design.  We have also created our own green city charter to help inspire others to live sustainably. What a busy week!  It has really given the children the opportunity to work together and cooperate whilst building their knowledge and creative skills.

In addition to all this industry, we have been learning about place value of numbers up to 100 - representing and partitioning using base 10 equipment, drawings and number lines but also through solving problems and reasoning.  We have started listening to our class novel 'Malamander' by Thomas Taylor (this is very exciting) as well as our reading comprehension story 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' by Jill Tomlinson.

PE will be on a Monday and Friday, please make sure your child has their full PE kit in school all week.  We are already experiencing a lot of lost property - particularly jumpers.  Please make sure your child's name is clearly written in all uniform so that it can be easily reunited with its owner!
