Principal's Message

As the end of Module 1 comes to an end, it is a great moment to reflect on a great start to the year. Our EYFS classes, Oak and Juniper have settled in incredibly and are a wonderful addition to the Marden Primary Academy family. We have passed our pre-authorisation to become an IB World School and we hope to go through full authorisation next term. We had an amazing collection of food for Harvest donations. There have been an array of sporting competitions, the Halloween disco and most importantly, some fantastic learning in our inquiries.

Each week on the class tab, you can see the progression of skills and knowledge our children have developed through their central ideas. We have an exciting curriculum offer here at Marden and I enjoy seeing week by week their progression. We have also had elections for key leadership roles within the Academy including, house captains and school council. Developing leadership skills is an integral aspect of holistic education.

Below there are pictures of our new library. Being part of Leigh Academies Trust has provided us with incredible investment in books over the past two years including £10,000 of decodable books and £7,500 of books for KS2. We have used this investment to develop a whole school library, rich with contemporary, high-quality texts which will develop our children's love of reading. Reading is the gateway to all learning and will always be a priority for our children.

Finally, I wish you all a wonderful half-term break, I hope that you enjoy time with friends and family and we look forward to seeing you all in Module 2.

Mr N Dosad

A free online safety guide on how to be green with your tech.

Right now, humans aren’t living sustainably: we’re taking too many resources and not leaving the world in a fit state for future generations. Old tech products are a clear example: if we throw them away, the poisonous lead and mercury inside can get into the food chain through the soil. Recycling tech, though, has its own issues: it’s often exported to countries where the law doesn’t protect people from hazards. Whole villages (including children) sort through discarded devices to remove useful parts and substances like gold, silver and copper – often putting their health at risk. Finding ways to re-use tech is the greenest option.

In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of tips such as donating your old devices to charity, reusing your smartphones and recycling the batteries.
