Learning Update

We have continued to use written methods of the four operations this week, culminating our unit with multi-step word problems and BIDMAS problems.

Our geographical study has meant we have studied deserts, understanding what they are and identifying the largest deserts on our planet. In science, we documented the journey of blood through the heart whilst in PSHE, we have been studying bullying and relating it to our text, Pig Heart Boy.

Our writing focus this week has been a balanced argument, using our knowledge of our core text. We have learned of Cam's xenotransplantation surgery success, but the news of his procedure has hit the media and created somewhat of a storm after Cam's best friend, Marlon, revealed Cam's secret about his controversial transplant. As a result, we discussed whether Marlon was right or wrong to tell his parents about Cam's pig heart transplant, particularly because they subsequently sold this story to the press.
