6 Monkey Puzzle Learning Update

Central idea: Identity and thinking can be influenced through the media.

Our Learning This Week

This week, we have been using written methods of long division, dividing by two-digit numbers and solving problems that involve this process. We have also been printing in art, inspired by the work of Andy Warhol.

Our writing focus this week has been speech writing, using a variety of sentence structures that we have been learning in Skills to write in role as Dr Bryce (inspired by our text, 'Pig Heart Boy'). We have also been writing about the human body, documenting our understanding of the role and purpose of each of our major organs.

In inquiry this week, we have been considering our own personal relationship with media and thinking about the influence it has on us. We discussed the role of influencers and how they can have positive and negative effects on others. We were also very lucky to be visited by Mike Williams, a BBC radio and TV presenter, who gave a talk about the media and his experiences within the media. The children asked lots of interesting and pertinent questions and were in awe of the personalities he has met including Sir Andy Murray, Stormzy and Anthony Joshua. Mike currently works on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and even gave us a special mention on the radio this morning!

Reminder

Next week, the children require additional clothing and suitable footwear for outdoor learning.
