Oak Learning Update

Central idea: Our likes and dislikes make us who we are.

Firstly, I wanted to congratulate Team Oak on the wonderful Early Years concert last Friday. Mr Reynolds and I were so impressed with the children's confidence and beautiful singing. Thank you to all of our Parents for attending, it meant so much to your children and we look forward to sharing many more magical moments with you this year.

Following the success of our concert, we moved into Line of Inquiry three 'An inquiry into how we communicate our likes with others to change their opinions and views'. We moved away from discussing our likes and talents and began to talk about the talents of our family members. Many children were quick to share their thoughts:

Imogen: "We Mummy is good at walking with her children sensibly."

Oscar: "My Mummy is good at running."

Edith: "My Mummy is good at reading stories."

Oliver: "My Daddy is good at cooking."

Jaxon: "My Mummy is good at cooking too. She is good at making scrambled eggs and beans on toast."

The discussion quickly turned to who did and didn't like this so as a team we decided to make it. Together, we mixed the ingredients and watched the butter turn from a solid to a liquid and enjoyed watching the eggs scramble (from a safe distance). After cooking, Team Oak talked at length about the cooking process while enjoying a mid morning meal together.

Reminders

Please remember book change day is on Monday and Thursday. Can all children bring their decodable books in on these days so we can listen to all children read throughout the week and children have access to new texts regularly. Thank you.
