5R Learning Update

Central idea: Maintaining peace and resolving conflict can help humans to live harmoniously.

We have been following our third line of inquiry, 'Ways to Maintain Peace,' which has been intriguing. We have been learning about the formation and the functions of the United Nations organisation, and the agreements that are made between the members. The whole of year 5 came together to form a mock security council, thinking about the decisions that are made by world leaders. The children then wrote their own speeches to persuade countries to join the UN, and their mission for world peace.

In maths, we have been learning how to calculate angles on a straight line, as well as angles around a point. We have also been lucky enough this week to be able to watch a production of at Mascalls!
