3B Learning Update

Central idea: People can go on vacation to explore different communities.

In inquiry we have continued to explore different tourist opportunities, while making connections to our map work. The children could all confidently identify continents, oceans and countries in Europe. We looked at holiday destinations in Europe and discussed why people would want to go there. We ended the week by cooking a dish the children felt was a key tourist attraction in Italy... pizza!

The children also wrote some lovely letters to a penpal, writing about all the tourism opportunities here in the UK. They also focused on our last line of inquiry and included the impact of tourism on the UK, after a big discussion on the positives and negatives of tourism on a particular location.

In maths, we looked at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

In science, we continued our topic of light, completing several investigations and experiments throughout the week. Firstly, we looked at how shadows are created and throughout the day investigated how a shadow changes throughout the day. After, we looked at how light is created through circuits. The children enjoyed exploring series and parallel circuits.
