Sucess Story

Although Usha is a girl with High support need (severe ) intellectual disability, she is earning 7000 per month with her small bindi business. 

Usha belongs to an underprivileged family ,living in a slum area with 7 of her family members.  Usha has been associated with Manovikas since 2016, under the quality of life program , under which she was trained for Hygine, grooming, communication and Sexuality education, Due to which Due to which there was a change in her behavior ,she was able to do the activities of her daily life and was able to explain and convey her feelings with others. Earlier when she joined she had no idea about hygiene and she came to Manovikas with untidy hair and clothes. Gradually her behavior was so improved that she joined Manovikas as caregiver and she handled small kids with care . She has given some money as her stipend by which she fulfilled her basic needs.  

One day she showed her interest to open a small business for herself and discuss with the center coordinator.

सेजल तो नदी है

एक बहती कश्ती कँहा रूकती हैं,

हौसला हो तो, हर रोज़ बहती हैं। 

Dr Mousumi Bhaumik was a Trained Educator and received guidance from her teacher Dr Reeta Peshawaria, an exceptionally talented clinical psychologist at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (Divyangjan).

Dr Mousumi Bhaumik was mentoring Sejal for education at Manovikas School for Inclusion. After the demise of Dr Mousumi, Sejal has no place to live and continue her education.

The SHUCHITA project supports Sejal; she passed class 10th and pursued her Secondary Education.

Sejal learned sexual and reproductive care for herself and joined the make my choice program.

She is independent in travelling and managing her life well. 

Shejal is now  member of self advocate team and took active participation in many national and internal workshops and seminars. She contributed her valuable advice in developing resources for person with intellectual and developmental disabilities like easy read .


I PROVED MY SELF …. YES I CAN DO .

Kanika is a 29-year girl with intellectual and devlopmental disability. Her father has shop of car spare parts, due to pandemic currently not running smoothly . She is very keen to learn computers but due to his family conditions was not able to proceed.

with support of SHUCHITA project, she was enrolled in employable skill development program (Data entry Operator). In the beginning she was facing problem due to hesitation she was not interact with trainer as well as her pair group but after time-to-time counselling and regress training her confidence level was improved. 

And after successfully completed her course ,currently doing  her paid internship in Mata Bhagwati Chadda Niketan School. Recently she received best trainee internship award in annual function of her internship place. 

She is also a member of self advocacy group and took part in many workshop and training organized by Government agencies . 

Afsa is 12 years old with intellectual and developmental disability along with language problems. Her parents wished her to speak and demonstrate some reading and writing. During Pandemic she actively participated in online speech therapy and educational guidance of e- Gyanshala.She successfully completed her early education in Aarambh child care center and got admission in Manovikas School for Education.

With the scholarship support of SHUCHITA for formal education she gradually moved towards success and making continuous progress. Currently she is enrolled for class 6th under open basic education (OBE) system from NIOS. Moreover with her confidence and support of family and teachers she speaks and fulfills the responsibilities of the class monitor well enough.

Afreen, aged 12, faces the challenges of intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as hearing problems. Her father operates a small card printing shop while her mother takes care of their home. They reside in a slum area in north-east Delhi, living in a joint family setting. Despite her disabilities, Afreen finds joy in watching television and playing with a mobile phone, expressing herself through sign language. Her cousin's sister assists her with her studies.

Thanks to the scholarship support provided by SHUCHITA for formal education, Afreen has been steadily advancing towards success and continuous improvement. Presently, she is enrolled in the 3rd grade through the open basic education (OBE) Level B system offered by NIOS. With growing confidence and the unwavering support of her family and teachers, Afreen has now started to vocalize some words.

Furthermore, following self-care training, Afreen is becoming increasingly independent in managing her daily life as she enters adulthood. She has learned how to change her clothes and handle her menstrual periods with confidence.

Amulya appeared for 2nd-year graduation examination

Despite Amulya's thorough preparation for her second-year graduation program, she found herself overwhelmed with nervousness at the outset. However, as she began to write her papers with support of scribe her confidence steadily increased, leading to a successful and well-executed examination
