Students will read extensively in multiple genres from world literature such as selected short stories, dramas, novels, poetry, and mythologies originally written in English or translated to English from multiple cultures.

Course Description: Students in reading lab classes read independently for sustained periods of time in a variety of texts to build fluency and comprehension. They engage in small and large group discussions. They expand their vocabulary through wide reading, word study, and use of visual, contextual, and structural clues. They use graphic organizers and other comprehension strategies in fiction and nonfiction texts. Students apply research strategies and study skills, producing short research reports with documentation.
