Foundation High School Graduation Plan = 22.0

All students are by default placed into an endorsement plan. A student and their parent may not declare a Foundation only plan until after the Sophomore year.

All students attending MNTHS will be expected to earn a total of 5 credits of Science and at least one Elective credit must be in Engineering. These credits may also be used for the purposes of earning an Endorsement, if applicable. All students attending MNTHS will be expected to enroll in English, Mathematics, and Science each year they attend.

Endorsements

There are five areas in which a student may earn an endorsement under House Bill 5. Not all endorsements are offered at every high school.

Four English credits including English I, II, and III and a fourth English selected from the following: English IV; Business English; Literary Genres; Creative Writing; Research and Technical Writing; Humanities; Communication Applications; AP English Literature and Composition; AP English Language and Composition; or any other SBOE Approved Advanced English Course and offered at MHS.

Performance acknowledgements

Outstanding Performance (as determined by SBOE) in any of the following:

  • A Dual Credit Course

  • Bilingualism & Biliteracy

  • AP Test or IB Test

  • PSAT, ACT-Plan, SAT or ACT

  • For earning a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification or license



The following endorsements are available in Manor ISD:

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Endorsement

A student may earn a STEM endorsement by completing foundation and endorsement requirements including Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics and one of the following options:

A

  • A “series of courses” or Program of Study (POS) consists of four or more credits from three or more courses in a CTE POS. An endorsement must include at least one advanced CTE course that is the third or higher course in a sequence.

B

  • A Program of Study of four credits in STEM may be selected from the following: Engineering-Project Lead The Way (PLTW), Biomedical Sciences (PLTW) or Cybersecurity.

C.

  • A total of five credits in math by successfully completing Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and two additional mathematics courses for which Algebra II is a prerequisite.

D.

  • A total of five credits in science by successfully completing Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and two additional science courses.

E

  • In addition to Algebra II, Chemistry, & Physics, a coherent sequence of three additional credits from no more than two of the areas listed in the above (A), (B), (C), and (D).



Business & Industry Endorsement

A student may earn a business and industry endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and one of the following options:

A

  • A “series of courses” or Program of Study (POS) consists of four or more credits from three or more courses in a CTE POS. An endorsement must include at least one advanced CTE course that is the third or higher course in a sequence.

B

  • A Program of Study of four credits in Business & Industry may be selected from the following: Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources; Architecture & Construction; Arts, Audio/Video Technology, & Communications; Business Marketing & Finance; Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics; Information Technology; Manufacturing; and Hospitality & Tourism.

C

  • Four English elective credits by selecting three levels in one of the following areas: advanced broadcast journalism; advanced journalism – newspaper; advanced journalism – yearbook.

D

  • A coherent sequence of four credits from (A), (B), or (C).



Arts & Humanities Endorsement

A student may earn an arts & humanities endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and:

Five social studies credits

Four levels of the same language in a language other than English

Two levels of the same language in a language other than English and two levels of a different language in a language other than English

A coherent sequence of four credits by selecting courses from one or two categories or disciplines in fine arts

Four English credits including English I, II, and III and a fourth English selected from the following: English IV; Business English; Literary Genres; Creative Writing; Research and Technical Writing; Humanities; Communication Applications; AP English Literature and Composition; AP English Language and Composition; or any other SBOE Approved Advanced English Course and offered at MHS.


Public Services Endorsement

A student may earn a public services endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and one of the following options:

A

  • A “series of courses” or Program of Study (POS) consists of four or more credits from three or more courses in a CTE POS. An endorsement must include at least one advanced CTE course that is the third or higher course in a sequence.

B

  • A Program of Study (POS) of four credits in Public Services may be selected from the following: Education & Training, Health Sciences, Human Services, or Law & Public Safety.


Multidisciplinary Studies Endorsement

A

  • A student may earn a multidisciplinary studies endorsement by completing foundation and general endorsement requirements and one of the following options:

  • Four advanced courses that prepare a student to enter the workforce successfully or postsecondary education without remediation from within one endorsement area or among endorsement areas that are not in a coherent sequence, or

C

  • Four credits in each of the four foundation subject areas to include English IV and Chemistry and/or Physics, or

D

  • Four credits in advanced placement (AP) or dual credit selected from English, mathematics, science, social studies, economics, or languages other than English, or fine arts.
