“ Pastoral Literature“ is defined as the harmony between human and village life of shepherds often accompanied by romance and adventure. The main focus is people freed from hectic and restless life.
People depicted in this kind of literature enjoy everyday moments of rural life, most often they focus on the community of shepherds. It is therefore an idealization of “ simple“ life in the countryside. The main characters are men who encounter love and other various adventures.
The most typical and also famous representation of pastoral literature is certainly a place called Arcadia, created by Virgil, which has even become a synonymous with a calm and restful life, free of any outside influences and full of wide opened spaces. (Wiki)
