Introduction to Literature is one of the first courses offered by the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University. Its purpose is to give you the basics of literary terminology so that you were able to talk about literature. The course also includes some practice in thinking about literature using the terminology. The course is designed to prepare you for all the other literary courses leading towards your state exams and, for some, writing your thesis on a literary topic.
Last, but not least, the aim of the course is to give you an opportunity to tackle new resources that are freely available to teachers and to create your own materials using reliable sources. This website will be your main source for the terminology that is going to be tested in the final quiz (see the syllabus). The idea is to create your own materials (something like our personal "WIKI") from which you can study easily.
To handle the materials here, as well as the course, please, follow the mood-link-a website and the regular emails you will be getting throughout the semester.
Thank you for your cooperation.
In this chart, there are all the terms that you need to know for the final quiz, that is going to take place during the last week of the semester. Each student will create 2 or 3 entries (depending on the number of students - the number will be specified after the first two weeks) and place them within this web (see the instructions below). For that, please, sign your name into this chart where you chose the terms. Do not delete any names. After you create the entry as a new page within this website, do not forget to sign your name under it, so that it is clear who is the author of the entry. After all students chose their 2/3 terms, there may still be some left. If you want to get some extra points, you can chose one (or more) from the remaining ones.

In order to create your own entry,
use first the “sites/stranky” button from the menu on the right (the menu on the right - options at the top: Vlozeni/insert - stranky/sites - motivy/motives)
to add a new page/site click + sign in the circle at the bottom of the sidebar, and choose "new page" (the same + is used to add a new link, or a section,...)
name the page (a little box for that will appear after you click +), click “done”
go to the page you have created. You will see only the name you have entered at the top of the page now
then use the next button from the top menu = “insert/vložení”. Here it is up to you. The easiest way is to insert a field(s) with a text. If you are able to, you can play a bit more and add pictures, links, videos,... just have a look at the options on the sidebar. Please, DO NOT WRITE directly on the page without "inserting a text field" or some other thing (page/folder/link/...), otherwise you will create a footing for all the pages and possibly delete work of others on the way!!!
The options for text, links, or deleting the sections appear any time you move the mouse across the field you have created (icons at the top as well as on the left of the section you have created)
Before you create your own entry, please check the page “Allegory” created by me as a model you should follow when creating each of the entries. Each entry is required to have several sections and follow the copyright rules = acknowledging your sources.
Good luck with your work. I will check the entries and mark it in the google chart with terminology. If it will not be approved, I will need to ask you to rewrite the entry.
This is a full list of terminology that is to be covered in the final quiz and that will serve as the basis for our "WIKI" webpage we are going to create here.
