Cotton, Cattle, Railroads and the Closing of the Frontier

1866-1900

After the Civil War, most former Confederate States found themselves rebuilding entire cities, recuperating from losing the labor of enslaved men and women that had built small fortunes, and trying to figure out were in the social hierarchy to place former slaves. Much of this would have an impact on Texas, where virtually, the war between the states had not touched harmed the geography. Texas had a prominent "boom" in many industries with the help of the railroads and clearing the Comanches off of the High Plains. This UNIT looks at the Economic, Social and Political impacts of a widespread "reconstruction" era.
