Civil Rights and Conservatism Bring Changes

1950-Present

After World War II, many minorities who had fought bravely for their country, came home only to find the same racial inequalities that they had left behind. The struggle for social justice united many Americans, but ultimately put the country at war within itself. What were these minority groups wanting to accomplish? Why had it taken so long for Americans all over to realize how segregated the South really was? This UNIT takes a look at the impact of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's and the effects of these events.
