The LMHS school counselors are trained to assist students and families with a wide array of challenges that arise in their lives. Counselors can also be helpful in directing students and parents / guardians to appropriate resources within the school and community.
LMHS Counselors are all trained members of the Student Assistance Program (SAP). Referrals may be made by students, parents, faculty, and staff. If you are interested in making a referral, please reach out to your school counselor. Mary Kochaba, Student Support Counselor, is also the SAP Coordinator. Ms. Kochaba, in conjunction with the school counselors, also provides in-school support services to students. Please review the information on the Student Support Counseling tab to learn more.
An important note about bullying / harassment: It is the policy of Lower Moreland Township School District to maintain a learning and working environment that is free from harassment, intimidation and bullying. Students are encouraged to report bullying by filling out a Harassment-Bullying Report and submitting it to Mr. Thomas, assistant principal. Students may meet with their counselor when completing a report.

Students may be referred to the Student Support Counselor by school staff, parents, or friends. Students may also initiate services on their own through self-referrals. Regardless of the referral source, participation in counseling is voluntary. Although services are confidential, parents may be contacted and involved on an as needed basis, with prior knowledge and consent of the student. In addition, confidentiality does not pertain to situations in which students may present a danger to self or others.
Student Support Counseling is a supplemental, support service of the School Counseling Department. Services are provided by a Masters level counselor certified in Secondary School Counseling by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
