College Application Planning Information for 10th Graders

Fall:

• • • Take the PSAT here and then utilize those score reports to see where you can grow. Also ask your counselor about the ACT options to see which might be a better fit for you.

    • Stay on track with your classes! Every year counts, and this is a big one for your GPA. 

    • Familiarize yourself with general college requirements (foreign language, volunteer hours, etc.) so you can make sure to have those things in place. Check with your School Counselor if you are unsure.

Spring:

• • • Take on a leadership role in one of your sports or activities. 

    • Meet with your School Counselor to talk about courses for next year, including possible AP options. 

    • Get a summer job! Or volunteer, or a summer program. Find a way to stay involved, while also exploring possible career options (such as a daycare, hospital, retail store, etc.)
