College Application Planning Information for 9th Graders

Fall: 

• • • Think about extracurricular activities and volunteer experience.

    • Keep your grades up! 9th grade counts, and they will see all final grades from this year. This will also impact GPA.

    • Talk to your parents/guardians about a college savings plan.

Spring:

• • • Meet with your counselor to go over classes for next year.

    • Do the Career Inventory and Strengths Explorer on Naviance to get an idea of a good major or career choice for yourself. 

    • Keep track of academic and extracurricular awards, community service achievements, and anything else you participate in, so it’ll be easier to remember later.

    • Make summer count. There are plenty of ways to have fun and build your credentials during the summer, such as volunteering, getting a job, or signing up for an enrichment program.
