2022 AP Test Day Information and Tips for Preparation
Advanced Placement courses are college-level courses offered through College Board. They require a significant amount of study on the part of the student. They carry one full academic credit and they typically meet a minimum of five class periods each week. In addition, students are required to spend at least one hour on homework for each hour in the classroom. If students earn a passing score (3 or better on a 1 to 5 scale), they may receive credit for that course in college, depending on the requirements of individual colleges and universities.

In some cases, students may also request to take an AP course through Virtual High School (VHS).
All students who enroll in AP courses are expected to take the exam in May at their own cost. Information is provided to students both at the time of enrollment as well as through correspondence prior to the exam window. The Program of Studies provides information about pre-requisites for each AP course.
1. All students who enroll in an Advanced Placement course will be required to take the AP examination in May, 2022. If students earn a passing score of 3-5 (on a scale of 1-5), they may potentially earn college credit, depending on the policy of the school at which they matriculate. See link below.
2. It is strongly advised that students limit the number of AP courses taken in one year. A maximum of three (3) is a typical recommendation.
3. AP add-on weight (.15 for grades of C and better) applies to the first eight (8) AP courses. Honors weight (.075) will be awarded to any AP courses beyond the first 8.
4. Students may be recommended for AP courses based on the following:
A. Grade of “B” or higher in the most previous course in sequence (standards for specific AP courses may be higher)
B. Approval of the appropriate teacher (s) in each relevant academic discipline
C. Completion of a summer project, which is required in most cases
