The New Vision Interdisciplinary Program is a transition program designed to provide students with a career awareness experience while completing graduation requirements. Students will take classes at the high school and then be transported to the selected career center. Students receive 1 high school credit for senior English, 1 high school credit for senior Social Studies, and 3 units of Occupational Education. Students who are selected for participation within these programs study within the career professionals work environment. Study sites include the Veterans Hospital, Crouse Hospital, SUNY Upstate Medical University, Congress and Capital Hill, FBI Academy Policy Memorial, Smithsonian Institute, Bureau of Engraving and Lockheed Martin. Limited openings are available in the New Vision Programs. Students interested in participating within this program will be required to apply. See your school counselor for application details.

This course is an in–depth study of the health care system, looking at all the technical support staff needed to provide total quality care. Students are exposed to occupational, physical, and respiratory therapy, nuclear medicine, research, dentistry, histology, pharmacology, nursing, recreational therapy, surgical practices, and many other areas. College credits available.

Located at the Onondaga County Sherriff’s Department, this course is the study of the criminal justice system from what causes crime to the law enforcement system, including the police who protect, the court system that deals with interpreting and enforcing the law of the locality, state or nation, and the many agencies who interact with this system, such as probation, child protection, and corrections. College credits available.

As an engineering immersion program, students will explore numerous career pathways as they engage in real-‐world learning within an industry setting. Located at Lockheed Martin in Syracuse, students will study the fundamentals of engineering and extend their learning as they work side-‐by-‐ side with engineers on contracted projects in aerospace defense, security and advanced technologies. Upon completion students will possess a deep understanding of the engineering profession and design process and be able to apply engineering tools, technologies and techniques that are necessary to solve and demonstrate innovation.
