Academic Program Information

HONOR AND MERIT ROLL

Students are eligible for the Honor Roll if their quarterly average is 89.5 or above. Students are eligible for the Merit Roll if their quarterly average is at least 84.5 but less than 89.45. The quarterly average is calculated by dividing the sum of the quarterly grades* by the number of attempted credits. (*Full numeric value for full year courses and half the numeric value for half year courses.)

ACADEMIC AND HONORS

At Liverpool High School, recommendations from the student’s counselor and classroom teacher are required for placement of students into all courses, regardless of the level. These recommendations are made to ensure that the student’s instructional program properly matches his/her ability. Past performance in class work and scores on the annual standardized tests are major factors influencing these recommendations.

Weighted and unweighted Grade Point Averages (GPA) are recorded on transcripts only. Weighted GPA is calculated as follows: 5% is added to the final average in Honors courses and 10% to the final average in Advanced Placement (AP), Syracuse University Project Advance (SUPA), State University of New York (SUNY), specific Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and Onondaga Community College (OCC) courses where students can earn college credit.
