The technique used

The Eiffel tower appears as one of the most modern and amazing buildings in the world, especially thanks to the particular technique with which it was made. It is completely made of iron: it is composed of over 18.000 pieces of iron in the shape of a cross, joined togheter with more than 2.500.000 rivets.

OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE TOWER

The Eiffel Tower is illuminated by over 350 floodlights, while in the evening it sparkles with over 22,000 bulbs and 900 party lights. The idea of making the tower sparkle was designed to celebrate the transition to the year 2000. A curious aspect is also represented by its color: even if viewed from below the Eiffel Tower seems uniform, in reality the paint is darker in the highest points of the tower. This is to accommodate the perspective and allow the building to have a uniform appearance when viewed from below. However, for its maintenance, 50 tons of paint are needed every 7 years.
