At school this week the children have had a brilliant time. They had to create a package for an uncooked egg that would protect it when it was thrown in the air and landed on the playground. Many of the eggs survived the first impact, but only a few survived the second impact. The children learnt a lot about the transfer of energy and the smashed egg created lots of hilarity. They also created bridges out of paper and sticky tape. Each bridge had to withstand an earthquake. They learnt how to strengthen paper by twisting, folding and creating geometric shapes such as triangles. They also used Now Press Play to travel back in history to an ancient city in Greece and used Lyfta to travel the world investigating plastics in the oceans and how these impact the wildlife and in turn the food chain. They also created art about the ocean, did maths investigations, PE and French. All in all the children had a fantastic week full of STEM activities and the arts.
