YEAR 2

What a busy couple of weeks we have had in Year 2!

In Maths we are learning to multiply by 2, 5 and 10 and we can represent multiplication in different ways: making groups using counters, using repeated addition, and writing it as an equation. We are also playing games to help us remember these times tables and we continue to use TTRS as a competitive way to learn our times tables.

We are pleased to announce that 4 children in Year 2 are now members of the 144 Club: Haiden, Jayden, Veer and Sachit. They have answered 144 multiplication questions in under 5 minutes. What an achievement!

In English we have written our story of the Pirates Next Door, using previous descriptions of our pirates and the setting, and we made sure we wrote our stories in chronological order, using a beginning, middle, resolution of the problem and an end.

Last week we had a Christingle workshop and we learned where Christingles originate from and what they symbols mean. We also took part in the Discover Christmas workshop from Sutton Schools Works. They told the story of Christmas and we then completed activities to explore the meaning of Christmas. It was really interesting.

On Thursday we had our pirate day. We dressed up in pirate costumes and we made hats, eye patches, treasure maps, flags and we played a treasure game. We also made bread by hand and used our designs to shape our own bread which we then ate whilst watching a pirate adventure. It was such a fun day!
