YEAR 1

In Literacy, we have been having great fun pretending to be Goldilocks! In the version we have been reading, Goldilocks gets up to some very naughty things even before she gets to the bear's cottage. We wore masks to really feel like Goldilocks and shared our naughty actions! Then we recorded some of our ideas on Seesaw - you will be able to watch and see how naughty Goldilocks was!

We made videos using Flipgrid when we compared the lives of Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria. Did you know that Queen Victoria had 42 grandchildren? The children took turns being one of the Queens and recorded facts about their lives. Did you know that Queen Victoria had 42 grandchildren?

The children learned a valuable lesson during our Financial Education session. Each child started with 10p to spend and they were shown a set of pictures (one at a time) of things they might like to buy. Sadly some of the more desirable and expensive items were last to be revealed so only the children who had opted not to spend were left with 10p to buy the I-pad! The discussions that resulted from the task really made the children stop and think about the best spending habits we had seen.

In maths, we have started work on numbers to 20 and have used the tens frames to explore the 'teen' numbers and are beginning to link the fact that the written numbers show us the tens and ones digits.

And on Thursday 8th December, we became elves for the day and had great fun on our elf run! We did get puffed out but kept on pushing ourselves to not quit too soon!
