COVID UPDATES
As you'll already be aware that there is no longer and COVID-19 specific guidance any more, instead how education settings should manage and respond to outbreaks and incidents of COVID-19 and other infection illnesses is available in the Health protection in education and childcare settings Guidance - (last updated 3rd October 2022).
Particularly helpful is the managing specific infections diseases A-Z section, that states what settings need to do in response to Respiratory infections, including COVID-19 ;
Exclude any affected individual who has a high temperature and are unwell until they no longer have a high temperature and are well enough to attend the setting.
Do not exclude individuals with mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, or mild cough, who are otherwise well.
Advise children and young people with a positive COVID-19 test result to try to stay at home for 3 days after the day they took their test.
Advise staff who have a positive COVID-19 test result to stay at home for 5 days after the day they took the test.
Individuals who usually attend an education or childcare setting and who live with someone who has a positive COVID-19 test result should continue to attend as normal.
Encourage children, young people and staff to implement good respiratory hygiene practices.
Advise all children, young people and staff to follow the Living safely with COVID-19 and other respiratory infections guidance.
