The STEAM Leadership course is now complete and all of the students who achieved every task have been granted a Level 1 qualification. The sixteen students who finished the course have worked tirelessly and developed leadership skills and behaviours that they will use throughout their lives.
In order to complete the course successfully, each learner worked on seven tasks that ranged from learning more about the UK’s influence on STEAM to planning activities safely and working with others. Task 6 was initiated on Tuesday 21st June where the STEAM Leaders planned, delivered and ran a STEAM based activity to a select audience. This event was months in the making and demonstrated the amazing success of all the learners on the STEAM Leadership course.
During the activity afternoon, all learners used their newly developed leadership skills and behaviours to deliver fun, engaging STEAM based learning for all that took part. LAB STEAM Leaders offered a wide range of STEAM activities such as baking, slime-making, lava lamps, binary coding through beadwork and many more. Each student was able to demonstrate effective communication through verbal and nonverbal means as well as promote STEAM in the chosen subject they focused on.
Here we have Anneka-Leigh and Miles running the slime session with year seven students and parents eagerly watching on.
Cindy demonstrating her ‘cloud in a jar’.
The Lava Lamp proved to be an interesting activity for all, ran by Isla and Eleanor.
Baking cupcakes was also very popular; this activity was run by Paige and Aleksandra.
An experiment that required access to the Science rooms were ‘Thermal heat and its uses’.
Both Regina and Dorith worked hard to develop a speech that really engaged the audience and through the dramatic demonstration of fire and heat rising they were able to explain in detail how this happens.
